BIOGRAPHYKathy Brown's status now stands proud as one of House music's true Divas. The lady responsible for local excellence on some of our genres greatest additions started out in the music industry in much the same way as many of her own lady Heroines; Patty La Belle, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Martha Wash are just a few of the divas which KathyBrown admires and derives her inspiration from. Her style has evolved through the years from soulful RnB to more RnB House flavored direction and is often compared to Whitney and Aretha; always chic, always smooth, yet with an underlying hard egde for the full effect.
At nine years old Kathy began strumming her vocal chords in the Gospel choir of her native town Southern Carolina. She spent some time performing in musicals The wise and Bubblln, Brown
Sugar and was discovered at 21 singing in the Laundromat... this led to kathy becoming a member of R&B group Sweet Cinnamon; she stayed with the group for three years and spent most her time touring around New York. Through this, Kathy met Sony/Columbia Music's Dave Shaw - got an audition, her first track Can't play around succumbed, and in her own words "turned everything around."
Since her first outing, Kathy has enjoyed success with tracks such as: Make me feel like singin' on AM:PM, Happy People on Blaze Productions, Joy wit David Morales onAzuil, I Appreciate on cuttin records, she work on Chanta Moore's track I'll never find Another Love and co - wrote Gloria Gaynor's Got to be Forever.
She has also worked with Kenny Dope Gonzales, Little Louie Vega and Cevin Fisher and was responsible for the vocals on three Defected tracks: J Majic drum and Base outing Love is not a game Warren Clarks Over you and her own offering Give It Up.
